Norfolk, Nebraska, USA, March 5, 2014 – Thermal Packaging Products introduces Chilled Wine Shipper, a temperature control shipping carton made with eco preferable insulated padding and materials. The cushioning carton liner features ultra-insulating padding made from select, purified recycled biodegradable super absorbent cotton enhanced textile fibers sandwiched between an inner layer and an outer layer of poly film sealed on all sides. The inner surface of the poly film is perforated to allow condensation from the refrigerant to wick away and be absorbed into the cotton fibers, protecting your bottle labels. The poly film contains an additive that promotes biodegradation in greater than one year as tested by ASTM 5511.
Cooperages 1912 announced it is expanding the World Cooperage Profile Series to include barrels toasted with custom infrared technology. The company will offer two new infrared toast profiles: Aroma and Reflection. The Aroma toast offers a full spectrum of oak aromatics to accent fruit characteristics and boost richness in the mid palate, while the Reflection toast lifts and enhances fruit flavors with mild oak flavors and aromas, according to product information. The Pellenc Group is set to release the next generation of its grape-sorting technology, Selectiv’ Process Vision 2. The new system is comprised of a vibrating sorting table, conveyor and optical sorting system that works with an ejection system to ensure only clean, high-quality fruit is retained. Pellenc reports the unit is easily controlled with an intuitive touch-screen panel that shows all processing indicators such as flow, load and ejection rate. Packaging manufacturer Smurfit Kappa unveiled its new “safe curve” wine pouches that feature additional seals. In addition to the standard seals, the new bags feature eight other radial seals in each corner to help protect the wine. The new, sturdier design is intended to provide protection during the filling process when the bag is dropped in the box and when the box flaps are folded and glued. Tangent Membranes is now offering its XF Mini unit for bench-top lab-filtration trials. The unit offers 4 square feet of membrane surface area that provides true crossflow filtration at a laboratory scale and can be used with a variety of membranes to suit different concentration, clarification or separation needs. Viega ProPress systems introduced a new line of lead-free ball valves. “The new valves are forged, providing a stronger valve body and are constructed with double stem seals, which provide years of leak-free operation,” according to Monty Betts, the company’s product manager. The clean-in-place (CIP) skid unit by Fogg Filler can mix, heat and deliver caustic and other chemicals and water to clean all product-contact parts of a filler system. Italian equipment supplier Innotec Tecnologie Innovative has released its new Winetica winemaking monitoring and control system, which won an innovation award at the SIMEI trade show in Milan, Italy, in 2013. The system uses a multiparametric probe, RFID technology and wireless transmitters in a vest worn by a cellar worker. As the worker moves from tank to tank with the probe, data on fermentation, temperature, oxygen levels, pH, turbidity, conductivity and other key information is transmitted to the central system.
