Titration system uses touch-screen display
Mettler Toledo released its EasyPlus titrator for use in the wine industry. The unit comes with a simple touch-screen display as well as “iTitrate” system to set up analysis protocols with just a few parameters. Garbelloto introduces 1-ton oak fermentor
Italian cooper Garbellotto has released a new 1-ton or 264-gallon oak fermentor that can also be used as an aging vessel. The French oak vat, available through The Vintner’s Vault in Paso Robles, Calif., is equipped with a stainless steel lid and forklift grooves on its base so that it can be emptied into a press. Gusmer Enterprises Inc. and EMD Millipore released an improved set of tools for in-house microbial plating. The EZ-Fit manifold, EZ-Stream vacuum pump and EZ-Pak Curve membrane dispenser are designed to make microbial monitoring easier and more efficient for winery lab staff. Complete wine analysis unit debuts
The Smartchem wine analyzer is now available in the North American market through Unity Scientific in Brookfield, Conn. The unit can run analysis for acetic acid, glucose and fructose, malic acid, glycerol, citric acid, lactic acid, free and total sulfur dioxide, NOPA, ammonia and polyphenols. Enzymes promote clarity
Oenobrands released two new enzymes developed to facilitate wine clarity at high and low temperatures. Rapidase Thermoflash is designed to accelerate and optimize the clarification of red must being processed with high-temperature winemaking methods. Geo-Cap tracking capsule
Wine Father LLC, based in Chicago, Ill., announced it would soon release its new Geo-Cap capsule, which contains a radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip that will gather information about the environment, location and commercial life of the bottle it seals. The capsule is designed to give wineries and wine buyers confidence about the conditions a wine experienced during shipment or storage. Kubota Tractor Corp. announced its new Grand L60 Series of tractors, which the company says offers a higher level of comfort along with improved productivity for compact tractors. The six models are available with a range of five engines and three transmission options. Amorim and O-I introduce Helix closure
Cork supplier Amorim and glass manufacturer O-I unveiled their new Helix closure at the Vinexpo tradeshow in Bordeaux, France. According to a statement by the two suppliers, the new closure is a result of four years of collaborative research. The new “twist-to-open” closure “combines an ergonomically designed stopper made from cork and a glass bottle with an internal thread finish in the neck.” Consumers can use the closure to reseal the bottle after they’ve opened it. New ‘Pro-Flo Shift’ pump system
Wilden unveiled its new Pro-Flo Shift air-distribution system for air-operated double-diaphragm pumps. The company describes the new system as a “significant breakthrough in energy efficiency,” saying it can achieve up to a 60% savings in air consumption and costs 50% less than an electronically actuated air-distribution system. The Pro-Flo Shift is available in 1.5-, 2- and 3-inch sizes with maximum discharge pressures to 8.6 bar and maximum flows of 243 gpm. Details: profloshift.com.
