The Lost Canyon brand will now be produced at Fritz Winery in Cloverdale, Calif.
Oakland, Calif. -- Lost Canyon Winery, which has been producing vineyard-designated Pinot Noir and Syrah wines from Sonoma sources since 2001, announced yesterday that its brand has been acquired by Fritz Winery, Cloverdale, Calif. According to a release from Lost Canyon, Fritz  "will continue producing Lost Canyon Pinot Noir and Syrah at their facility in Sonoma."

Lost Canyon, which produced about 2,500 cases per year, was headquartered in a century-old warehouse on San Francisco Bay near Oakland's Jack London Square. Its announcement included the information that its on-site tasting room will open for the last time this weekend, Nov. 29 and 30, from 1 to 6 p.m. Members of its Lost & Found Wine Club will continue to receive shipments of Lost Canyon wines, which next year will feature the 2007 vintage.

No one at Lost Canyon was available for contact prior to deadline today. A source at Fritz Winery confirmed today that Fritz had acquired the brand, but not the winery itself. She declined to provide further details at this time.

Fritz Winery, founded in 1979, produces some 17,000 cases per year in Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, including Sauvignon Blanc, old-vine Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Russian River Valley Chardonnay.
