Brooks breaks ground on new winery

Brooks Wines winemaker Chris Williams and managing director Janie Brooks Heuck and the first scoop of earth pulled from the site of the planned winery.
 
Amity, Ore.—Construction has begun on Brooks Wines' new 12,000-square-foot winemaking facility and tasting room. The new winery will be located adjacent to estate vineyards and feature indoor and outdoor hospitality areas, a catering kitchen, private tasting room, warehouse, lab and office space. “The multi-level design of the structure will help us reduce our power needs and will make the entire winemaking process more streamlined and functional,” winemaker Chris Williams said in a news release about the project. “Less time on a forklift means more time with the wine.”
