Missouri supports Georgia wine industry
Jefferson City, Mo.—The Missouri Wine and Grape Board and the University of Missouri Grape and Wine Institute announced it had sent 20 dormant Norton vines to the University of Georgia to help the school establish a trial program with the Winery Association of West Georgia. “This is how things get started,” said Misha Kwasniewski, assistant research professor and enology program leader for the Grape and Wine Institute of the University of Missouri. “We’re here and interested in helping in any way we can, and they’re looking for disease-resistant vines that are also adapted to the heat; that’s Norton.”
