Wine sales up at PLCB stores

Harrisburg, Pa.—Retail wine sales at Pennsylvania’s state wine and liquor stores increased 3.7% over the past year. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced its 602 Fine Wine & Good Spirits retail locations collected $2.24 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2013-14 an increase of $67 million, or 3.2%, over the previous fiscal year and the growth was led by wine sales. According to the board’s annual report, the PLCB sold $886 million worth of wine in the 2012-13 calendar year. More than half of the wine sold through PLCB’s stores was priced in the “value” segment. By volume and value, spirits still lead all of the PLCB’s sales. To read the entire sales report visit lcb.state.pa.us.
