Tonn. du Monde invests in Burgundy cooperage

Bordeaux, France—Tonnellerie du Monde, which is the owner of the Bordeux-based cooperage Tonnellerie Quintessence and the French division of Cooperages 1912, announced it had acquired a stake in Tonnellerie Tremeaux in Burgundy. As partner and co-owner, Tonnellerie du Monde plans to expand the Burgundian cooperage’s presence in France and international markets alongside founder Ludovic Tremeaux.

According to a press release announcing the deal, co-owner and general manager Ludovic Tremeaux will split his time between being onsite at the cooperage in Beaune, France and visiting wineries around the world to support the sales team and partnered distributors. Tremeaux founded the cooperage in 2010.

“We were drawn to Ludovic and the Tremeaux brand due to his passion, authenticity and commitment to respecting the wine,” said Franck Renaudin, directeur general of Tonnellerie du Monde. “Tremeaux barrels are handcrafted to order with emphasis on every detail, from premium oak sourcing, a unique one-meter high cheminée stacking method for natural seasoning, to a fruit-forward toast portfolio. … The existing portfolio is our foundation and will remain available even as we add new selections into the mix.”
