ASEV confirms new president, executive team

Davis, Calif.—Nichola Hall, technical consultant for Scott Laboratories in Petaluma, Calif., is the new board president of the American Society for Enology and Viticulture. She succeeds Mark Greenspan of Advanced Viticulture. Hall’s focus at Scott Laboratories is fermentation management, microbial nutrition, wine microbiology and analysis, and winery hygiene. Prior to Scott Laboratories, Hall worked at Vinquiry, Inc. in Windsor, California, as a technical consultant and with Bronco Wine Company as the director of microbiology. She serves on the American Vineyard Foundation Grant Management Committee, is a published author in international journals and trade publications, and an invited speaker at national and international meetings. Hall graduated with a bachelors in microbial biotechnology in 1997 and earned her Ph.D. in yeast physiology and fermentation science in 2001 from the University of Albertay, Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom.

ASEV announced its new director, Merilark Padgett-Johnson from Santa Rosa Junior College, and its 2016-2017 executive team members that include: James Harbertson of Washington State University, Tri-Cities, as first vice president; John Thorngate of Constellation as second vice president; and Tom Collins of Washington State University, Tri-Cities, as secretary-treasurer. Additional Board members continuing current terms are: ASEV Science Editor Markus Keller of Washington State University, Prosser; Directors Lise Asimont of Francis Ford Coppola Presents; Kay Bogart and Anita Oberholster, both from the University of California, Davis; Patty Skinkis of Oregon State University, Corvallis; and Hans Walter-Peterson of Cornell Cooperative Extension, New York.
