New head winemaker at CK Mondavi

Napa, Calif.—Charles Gilmore is the new head winemaker of CK Mondavi. Gilmore joins the winery after working as winemaker at Fetzer Vineyards for the past 12 years and will replace John Moynier who is retiring after being with CK Mondavi for more than 30 years. Gilmore and Moynier will work together through the 2016 harvest.

Prior to Fetzer, Gilmore worked a winery in the Barossa Valley of Australia, as well as working with a consulting winemaker in southern France. He also served as a laboratory intern and assistant at several wineries including Gundlach Bundschu, Rosenblum Cellars, Cakebread Cellars, and Artesa Vineyards and Winery. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California, Davis. “Charlie’s vast experience producing a wide range of varietals and working in diverse wine regions is a perfect fit for CK Mondavi,” said Marc Mondavi, co-owner of CK Mondavi in a press release. “Our family is thrilled to welcome him into the CK Mondavi family.”
