Founded in 1998, Free the Grapes! has worked tirelessly with industry lobbyists and winery associations to increase the number of states allowing legal, regulated wine shipping, and to streamline the marketplace for such shipments. The strategic combination of PR (Free the Grapes!), litigation (Coalition for Free Trade, which retired in 2014) and lobbying (Wine Institute, WineAmerica, Family Winemakers of California) has fueled the industry’s success. Free the Grapes! focuses on engaging consumers to support favorable legislation and working with the media in target states.
