Grapevine moth found in Sonoma County

A single male European grapevine moth was detected in a vineyard trap in western Sonoma County on June 26, according to the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

In response, agriculture officials deployed delimitation traps at the rate of 100 traps per square mile near the site of detection near Cazadero, Calif., according to a statement CDFA released with the Sonoma County Agricultural Commissioner and the United States Department of Agriculture.

"A visual survey for EGVM eggs and larvae has been conducted, and the results are negative," according to the news release. "The grower has been contacted." A quarantine will not be declared unless additional EGVM are detected within 3 miles of the original find, and this area has no prior history of EGVM detections.
