Fetzer Vineyards wins UN honor

Hopland, Calif.—Fetzer Vineyards was one of 19 companies in the world to receive the United Nations' "Momentum for Change" Climate Solutions Award at COP23, the UN Climate Change Conference. The wine company received the honor at the conference in Bonn, Germany, and it is the third environmental award Fetzer has won this year.

Fetzer was recognized by the UN for its Net Positive Wine program, which is ”a comprehensive approach to responsible business and carbon neutrality." The company's chief operating officer Cindy DeVries will deliver an address at the conference about Fetzer's sustainable programs and earlier in the conference joined California Gov. Jerry Brown on a panel about efforts in the United States to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.

In addition to the UN honor, Fetzer has also received the Golden State Warrior Award from Ceres' Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy and the Project of the Year honor from Environmental Leader.

The winery will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018 and, earlier this year, released Road to Regeneration, the winery's first sustainability report. The 26-page report highlights the company's progress toward its 2020 sustainability goals, its sustainability strategies, and highlights from 2016.
