Braselton, Ga.—Chateau Elan Winery & Resort has been sold to an affiliate of Greenwich, Conn., real estate investment firm Wheelock Street Capital. The resort will also now be managed by HEI Hotels & Resorts and the golf course will be managed by Troon Golf.

According to the press release announcing the ownership and management changes, Wheelock will invest more than $20 million in a comprehensive renovation of the 394-room estate, spa, winery and golf clubhouse. The winery produces around 35,000 cases per year of vinifera and Muscadine wines. The winery was founded in 1984 by Donald and Nancy Panoz who also created Elan Pharmaceuticals and Mylan Pharmaceuticals.
