Napa, Calif.—Kelly Woods has been promoted from winemaker to general manager at Burgess Cellars. Woods had been the head winemaker of the family owned winery since 2013 and in her new role she will oversee all winery operations and strategic planning for the long term. Woods will continue to supervise vineyard operations and winemaking but will also manage hospitality, sales, marketing and administration. “When I was hiring the position of winemaker back in 2012, I was trying to find a candidate that would grow into an upper management position once they learned the company,” said owner Steven Burgess in the press release announcing Woods’ promotion. “Kelly’s wisdom and span of control has steadily grown here, she has truly earned this official promotion.”
