Wineries, wine industry suppliers donate to fire relief

Santa Rosa, Calif.—In the aftermath of the devasting wildfires that have struck the North Coast region of California, many wineries and wine industry suppliers have donated cash, services or are spearheading other fundraising efforts to help victims of the fires. 

E. & J. Gallo Winery is donating $1 million to aid fire recovery efforts and is matching employee donations two-for-one. The funds will go to American Red Cross California Wildfires Relief Fund, the Community Foundation of Sonoma and the Napa Valley Community Foundation

B. Wise Vineyards, located in the Moon Mountain district of Sonoma, Calif. has donated $250,000 to the Redwood Credit Union North Bay Fire Relief Fund to help recovery efforts.

Foley Family Charitable Foundation and Foley Family Wines has contributed $225,000 to the Community Foundation Sonoma County, the Napa Valley Community Foundation and the Sonoma County Grape Growers Foundation. The company has also created a Go Fund Me account and is matching employee contributions up to $75,000.

Rodney Strong Vineyards, located in Healdsburg, Calif., has contributed $100,000 to the Community Foundation Sonoma County's Sonoma County Resilience Fund. The proceeds will support fire recovery efforts for those impacted by the recent wildfires. 

Treasury Wine Estates in Napa, Calif., is donating $100,000 to help support residents in Napa and Sonoma counties impacted by recent fires. The company reports it will divide the funds equally between the Napa Valley Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Sonoma. 

Joseph Phelps Vineyards of St. Helena, Calif. announced it has donated $100,000 through its Phelps Foundation to support fire relief efforts and will match employee donations dollar-for-dollar. The funds will be divided among the Napa Valley Community Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund, the Redwood Credit Union Community Fund North Bay Fire Relief: Sonoma County and the Sonoma Humane Society.

The online wine club Naked Wines is running a fundraising campaign among its members and has so far collected more than $140,000 according to the company’s website, us.nakedwines.com

On Oct. 16, G3 Enterprises in Modesto, Calif., announced a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross and Salvation Army to assist fire relief efforts. The company also pledged to cover the cost of transporting truckloads of donations to the affected areas. G3 will also match employee donations by a 2:1 margin. 

On Oct. 17, Trinchero Family Estates in St. Helena, Calif., announced a $250,000 donation to the Napa Valley Community Foundation fire relief fund and also announced it will match two-to-one any employee donation to its "Family in Need Fund."

On Oct. 17, Vintage 99 Label along with Avery Dennison and Wilson Mfg., partnered with Wine Country Strong to raise $100,000 by the end of the year through the sale of "Wine Country Strong" window decals. Vintage 99 Label is donating design and printing services while Avery Dennision and Wilson are donating printing supplies. All proceeds will go directly to aid those most affected by recent wildfires. The decals are available for a $6 donation at winecountrystrong.org

Enartis USA announced it has donated $10,000 to United Way of Wine Country's Relief Fund and will offer customers in Sonoma, Napa, Lake and Mendocino Counties a 15% discount on all products and services offered through the end of October.

Quest Industries of Stockton, Calif. has donationed funds to The American Red Cross California Wildfires Relief Fund, The Sonoma County Resilience Fund of the Community Foundation of Sonoma County, and the Disaster Fire Relief Fund of the Napa Valley Community Foundation to support fire relief efforts.

Mumm Napa is offering sifter boxes to those who lost homes in the fires. The boxes are available in two sizes, coarse or fine, and can be used to help recover valuables like jewelry and other small items. Mendocino Winegrowers, Inc.  is contributing 100% of its annual Harvest Party ticket sales to the Community Foundation of Mendocino's Disaster Relief Fund. Gabriel-Glas of Napa, Calif. announced Oct. 19 it is contributing 10% of its sales between now and Nov. 1 to the Napa Valley Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund and the Community Foundation of Sonoma County Resilience Fund. Charles Krug Winery is donating 20% of its tasting room sales for the month of November —up to $20,000— to the Napa Valley Community Foundation.

Raymond Vineyards of Napa, Calif. announced it has released a 2016 Napa and Sonoma Cabernet blend called Honoris, honoring those who helped during the recent fires. Only 3600 bottles of this wine were made, and they are donating 100% of its proceeds to the Napa Community Fund, Sonoma Resilience Fund and Bay Area firefighters and families. Bokisch Vineyards of Lodi, Calif. has joined CAWineStrong and is donating $1 per bottle sold at its tasting room or on its website for the rest of October. The funds will go directly to the Napa Valley Community Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund, the Community Foundation of Sonoma County’s Resilience Fund and the Community Foundation of Mendocino County Disaster Fund. Doubleback Winery in Walla Walla, Wash. has raised more than $83,000 during a four-day library wine sale fundraiser benefitting the Napa Valley Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Sonoma County.

Howell Mountain Vintners & Growers Association announced it is donating 100% of the proceeds from the Howell Mountain Harvest Tasting Silent Auction to the Angwin Fire Department. To purchase tickets, please visit angwinfire.com

Andy Beckstoffer announced Beckstoffer Vineyards of Napa Calif. will match Golden State Warriors Klay Thompson’s donation of $1000 per point to North Bay Fire Relief for the next three home games. Beckstoffer’s matching donation will be $1,000 per point, with a $50,000 minimum donation to the Napa Valley Community Foundation.

Old Bridge Cellars, located in Napa, Calif. has contributed $50,000 to be split evenly between the United Way of Wine Country and the Napa Valley Community Foundation. All funds are specifically designated to support the relief efforts related to recent California wildfires.

New York-based national fine wine retailer and global auction house Zachys announced a fundraising effort to support wildfire relief called "The California Strong Initiative." The company plans to distribute the funds equally between the Napa Valley Community Foundation, the Community Foundation of Sonoma County and The Community Foundation of Mendocino County. Fess Parker Winery, located in the Santa Ynez Valley, Calif. has launched a Northern California Relief Campaign to help those affected by recent wildfires. As part of the campaign, Fess Parker Winery is offering three-bottle specials of the Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2014 at a reduced rate of $60, donating $20 for every three-pack sold. The campaign will run through Nov. 6 and funds will be divided between the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund, the Sonoma Resilience Relief Fund and Direct Relief.

The Trumer Brewery in Berkeley, Calif., craft brewer of Trumer Pils, has donated $50,000 equally between The United Way of Wine Country and the Napa Valley Community Foundation. All funds are specifically designated to support the relief efforts related to the recentwildfires. 

Wine and spirits distributor Young's Market Company of Tustin, Calif., has created two charitable campaigns, the Young's Disaster Relief Fund and the Campaign to Rebuild Napa and Sonoma, to raise funds to help those impacted by the Northern California wildfires. The Disaster Relief Fund will provide financial support to employees who have lost their homes or suffered property damage in the fires while the Campaign to Rebuild Napa and Sonoma will raise funds to be donated equally among Rebuild Wine Country, the Sonoma County Resilience Fund, and the Disaster Relief Fund. The company will donate a percentage of sales of Napa- and Sonoma-based wines through Dec. 31 at a minimum of $200,000.

Fantesca Estate & Winery, located in Napa Valley Calif., announced it is donating 25% of the sales of its 2014 All Great Things 'Hope' Red Blend to the Napa Valley Community Foundation's fire relief efforts.
