February Brings Healthy Growth

Direct-to-consumer shipments and winery hiring activity grew especially fast in February compared to the same month in 2011. The volume of DtC shipments increased by 8%, while value rose 12%, indicating higher prices per bottle. Hospitality staff jobs led a 43% gain in winery hiring activity; winemaking and sales and marketing job postings also increased. Off-premise sales continued to show steady growth at major U.S. food and drug stores.
