TTB approves two coastal AVAs

Washington D.C.—The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau announced it will establish new AVAs on both the west and east coasts of the United States. The new Malibu Coast Viticultural area spans 44,590 acres of Los Angeles and Ventura counties and includes the already established Saddle Rock-Malibu and Malibu Newton Canyon AVAs. The new, Upper Hiwassee Highlands Viticultural Area is comprised of 690 square miles in Cherokee and Clay counties of North Carolina and Towns, Union and Fannin counties in Georgia. Both AVAs designations will go into effect Aug. 18. More information can be found at ttb.com.
