Vera Trinchero dies at 76

St. Helena, Calif.—Vera Trinchero Torres who, with her brothers Bob and Roger, helped build Sutter Home into a national wine brand and established Trinchero Family Estates as one of the industry’s top wine companies, died July 22 at the age of 76. Trinchero was 10 when her family purchased Sutter Home Winery in St. Helena, Calif. in 1948. She later married Ray Torres and worked in the family business as company secretary and overseeing its charitable activities. Vera Trinchero Torres was a breast cancer survivor and raised more than $1 million to fund breast cancer research. She is survived by her sons Tony Torres, principal and senior vice president of administration and Bob Torres, principal and senior vice president of operations; her brothers Bob Trinchero, principal and chairman and Roger Trinchero, principal and CEO and her four grandchildren Laina, Michael, Mathew and Julia.
