Sacramento, Calif.—French supplier Diam unveiled its new Origine closure at the recent Unified Wine & Grape Symposium. The Origine is produced similarly to other Diam closures, but beeswax is used as the filling agent for the agglomerated cork granules, which are held together with a binder produced from plant material. The Origine is available with an oxygen transmission rates similar to the Diam 10 and 30 closures and in the near future will be extended as an option across Diam’s entire portfolio.

According to the supplier, the new product is the result of several years of research and development to produce a closure made with natural ingredients that also offers its clients permeability options. “This new innovation offers a natural sealing solution while maintaining the proven reliability of Diam Bouchage in terms of guaranteed no detectable TCA, consistency and oxygen control,” said Diam’s North America sales manager Francois Margot in the press release announcing the Origine.

Diam Bouchage is based in Céret, France and distributed in the U.S. through G3 Enterprises in Modesto, Calif. The company guarantees its closures are free of any contaminats because of its patented Diamant process that extracts all impurities with supercritical carbon dioxide.
