CEO of St. Francis dies at 52

Santa Rosa, Calif.—Christopher Silva, the president and CEO of St. Francis Winery & Vineyards, died June 20. He was 52. Silva had been diagnosed in April with brain cancer and friends and family remembered a charismatic and dynamic person in a report in The Press Democrat newspaper. After leaving a Los Angeles law firm in 1992, Silva joined a Santa Rosa firm and studied wine and winemaking at Santa Rosa Junior College. He would later marry the daughter of St. Francis Winery owner Joe Martin. Silva started working for the winery in 1998 and became president and CEO in 2003. Silva is survived by his two children, former wife, brother and father and stepmother.
