Winery Hiring Rises 1% in September
Winery hiring was flat in September, with Winejobs.com's Winery Job Index up just 1% from a year earlier at 218. Winemaking positions experienced the greatest demand, rising 57% to an index reading of 161. General administration and other positions gained 44% to an index reading of 390 -- the highest of any subcategory. Direct-to-consumer positions saw the greatest decline, with demand dropping 21% to an index level of 343, followed by sales and marketing positions, down 14% to 148.

The Winery Job Index was 218 in September, up 1% from a year ago.

 

Demand for winemaking positions increased 57% in September versus a year earlier, with the subindex rising to 161.

 

Demand for sales and marketing positions fell 14% in September to a subindex level of just 148.

 

Demand for direct-to-consumer positions, including tasting room and retail staff, dropped 21% in September to a subindex level of 343.
