Fairfield, Calif.—Apollo Global Management LLC today announced the purchase of glass manufacturer SGP Packaging by Verallia from Saint-Gobain. Apollo now owns 90% equity in the company, and Bpifrance owns 10%. The transition means Verallia, which produced about 15 billion glass bottles and jars in 2014, is a fully stand-alone company.

JP Giovanni, vice president and general manager of SGP Packaging by Verallia, said there were no plans to change the glass producer's products or services. "We are very glad to be acquired by a U.S.-based company as we continue to expand our presence in North America."

Apollo has approximately $162 billion in private equity, credit and real estate funds spread across nine industries including packaging and materials.
