Nomacorc expands research
Nomacorc, a producer of synthetic wine closures, joined up with DLR Rheinpfalz in Germany, Centro Ricerca e Innovazione (CRI) in Italy and the University of Zaragoza in Spain for research projects studying the role of oxygen in the winemaking process. Details: nomacorc.com/oxygen-management.php.

Pouch earns packaging award

SureHarvest adds map-based application
SureHarvest and Altamont Technologies Inc. announced a deal for SureHarvest to market, sell and implement Altamont’s LandView mapping, field record-keeping and reporting system. The map-based application records data about farming activity and can be integrated with remote-sensing geographical information systems for detailed spatial analysis of farms and fields. Enartis Vinquiry partners on cork quality
Enartis Vinquiry announced a partnership with the Catalan Institute for Cork to enable U.S. wineries to screen cork lots before they are shipped to the United States. The Catalan Institute for Cork, or Catala del Suro, IC Suro, tests for moisture content, haloanisoles, dust content, torsion and extraction force, performs a boiling test, visual grading and sensory evaluation. New staffers at Benson Marketing Group

Young’s Market announces new general manager for California
Distributor Young’s Market Co. named Hayden O’Shea its new executive vice president and general manager for California. Previously, O’Shea had been the senior vice president for the California Estates Group since 2009.
