Wine storage facility expands
Oregon Wine Services and Storage (OWS) of McMinnville, Ore., is expanding its operations to include a new 62,000-square-foot facility in Tualatin, which will handle up to 1 million cases of wine. OWS opened its original location in McMinnville in 2001. It has expanded steadily over the past decade, developing a menu of services including storage, shipping, distribution and transportation. It built an addition to its McMinnville facility in 2008 and is also partner with winemaker Laurent Montalieu in NW Wine Co., a custom-crush facility that’s set to move from OWS’s premises in McMinnville to its own purpose-built winery in Dundee. Saxco names Midwest sales director
Saxco International, providers of packing products and services to the beverage industries, announced that Larry Coomes has been promoted to director of Midwest sales for Saxco International LLC. Coomes will manage sales for the entire Midwest region and oversee the sales force in the Louisville, Ky., office for the wine and spirits industries. Details: saxcointl.com.
Laffort secures Salamone
Laffort USA appointed Dr. Peter Salamone its technical manager-North America. Drawing from his production experience with E&J Gallo Winery and Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, as well as industry service experience with Gusmer Enterprises and Valley Research, Salamone will provide technical support for Laffort’s clients and sales and marketing team as well as support product development, application trials and educational seminars.
