Saverglass CEO moves to Napa.
Daniel Repoux, founder, president and CEO of Saverglass, Inc., will relocate from the bottle supplier's New Rochelle, N.Y. office to direct national operations from the company's Napa headquarters, subsequent to the departure of long-time vice president of sales and marketing Erica Harrop. Jyll Castangia was hired to complete the West Coast sales team.

M. A. Silva Corks, USA, Santa Rosa, Calif., broke ground on a new Sonoma County processing and administration facility. The natural cork supplier promoted Milouda Larsen to sales manager; Robin Matteri was hired to take over her Napa-Sonoma sales territory. Earlier, Len Rokosz became sales rep for the Pacific Northwest.

Virginia Dare opens new labs.
Virginia Dare, Brooklyn, N.Y. supplier of extracts and flavorings, has opened a 5,000-square-foot expanded product development laboratory and a beverage pilot plant, to allow and encourage greater customer interaction in the flavor development process.

Vintage Point "Partners In Wine," Sonoma, Calif., is a new enterprise designed to provide sales, marketing and general management services to small luxury wineries in the U.S. and abroad. Mechanical sorter aces taste test.
The Vaucher-Beguet Mistral Line mechanical grape sorter was trialed by Raymond Vineyards, Napa Valley, during the 2005 harvest on Cabernet Sauvignon grapes picked from alternate rows and vinified in parallel with fruit handled in the traditional manner. In a spring tasting of the resultant wines, the Mistral lot exhibited less astringency and fewer bitter flavors. The Mistral removes up to 95% of MOG, can be customized for selectivity and throughputs of 5 to 20 tons per hour. It's available from Scott Laboratories, Petaluma, Calif.
