Round Pond opened in August

Petite Sirah group elects board members
PS I Love You, the Petite Sirah advocacy group, elected Jeff Cohn, JC Cellars, president; Kent Rosenblum, Rosenblum Cellars, vice president; Jim Concannon, Concannon Vineyards, secretary; and Patty Bogle, Bogle Vineyards, treasurer. Robert Brittan, Brittan Family Vineyards and Bryan Del Bondio, Markham Vineyards, were added to the board.

Ortman marks 40th crush
Chuck Ortman will celebrate his 40th California crush this year at his Ortman Family Vineyards in San Luis Obispo, working with his son, winemaker Matt Ortman. A former graphic artist, he started his winemaking career in 1968 as a cellar rat at Napaís Heitz Cellars.

Galleron is Bourassa winemaker
Gary Galleron, formerly consulting winemaker for Napaís Bourassa Vineyards, has transitioned to full-time winemaker. Previously, he had worked with Chateau Montelena, Whitehall Lane, Grace Family, Hartwell, Vineyard 29 and Seavey.

San Luis Obispo honors award winners
The Independent Grape Growers of the Paso Robles Area, the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance and the San Luis Obispo Vintnersí Association selected Richard Sauret as Wine Grape Grower of the Year; Stephen Asseo was named winemaker of the Year, and Chuck Hope, Wine Industry Person of the Year. DeLoach puts top Pinot under screwcap
DeLoach Vineyards, Russian River Valley, released its entire, 140-case production of 2005 Sonoma Stage Pinot Noir with Stelvin Lux+ screwcap closures. The single-vineyard wine retails for $85 per bottle.

Jacuzzi is open in Sonoma
Jacuzzi Family vineyards opened its new facility beside Highway 121 in southern Sonoma County in July. The 18,000-square-foot, Italian-themed facility includes a barrel room with vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows and three large paintings of St. Teresa.
