G3 renovates bottle etching plant
G3 Enterprises, Modesto, Calif., recently completed expansion and improvements on its bottle etching facility, located on the grounds of Louis M. Martini Winery in St. Helena, Calif. The former Trinity Etching, at the same site, was purchased by G3 four years ago, and currently serves in excess of 150 customers annually, with seven production artists. Cultivate buys Wine Business Engine
Cultivate Systems, Napa, Calif., acquired the competing Wine Business Engine (WBE) from its parent company, Six88 Solutions, Boulder, Colo. WBE was one of the first web-based e-commerce solutions for boutique wineries, integrating direct-to-consumer sales, web traffic and tasting rooms. Six88 will now focus on its core product, ShipCompliant.

Gusmer to distribute BASF products
Gusmer Enterprises, Inc., is an authorized distributor for Divergan™F PVPP beverage filtration productions for color and phenolic stablization in wine.

Nomacorc invests in research
Nomacorc, Zebulon, N.C.-based producer of synthetic wine stoppers, has launched an in-depth, three-year project with the department of enology science at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA), Montpellier, France. The study will collect technical data to demonstrate the effect of oxygen transfer through closures on the evolution of wine after bottling.

NuKorc carbon footprint is shrinking
NuKorc, South Australian producer of synthetic wine closures, has added new technology to cut carbon emissions by up to 30%, with more reductions planned. The company commissioned Delta Environmental to audit operations and recommend changes, and since then has put the recommendations into practice. NuKorc closures are 100% recyclable.

Squires retired from Amorim
Longtime sales and marketing consultant, former VP Jack Squires retired in February from Amorim Cork America, Napa, Calif., after nearly 30 years in the wine industry.
