Napa, Calif.— Since launching its Protocol Zero program two years ago, Catalonian cork producer Parramon claims to have sold more than 25 million corks without any returns due to TCA. According to a press release by the company, to ensure its corks are TCA free, Parramon controls every step of production from harvest to finished product. After corks go through the inspection process, they are hermetically sealed in Mylar bags and air freighted directly to the client. Parramon also claims to be the cork manufacturer to to use only LED “digital eye-laser probe” smart sorters to differentiate qualities of corks. “We were the first cork company to incorporate TCA testing for every cork as a standard procedure,” said company owner Francesc Parramon. “By focusing on premium natural corks, we can work at a slower, more meticulous pace than the larger industrial producers. This slower pace allows for continuous in-line screening of all corks rather than batch-by-batch selection.”
