Napa Vintners elect Stotesbery
Pat Stotesbery, owner of Ladera Vineyards, was elected president of the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV), succeeding Peter McCrea of Stony Hill Vineyards who remains as a board advisor. NVV membership recently passed the 300 mark.

Terlato bought Sanford & Benedict
Terlato Wine Group (TWG), Lake Bluff, Ill., added Central Coast vineyard Sanford & Benedict to its California holdings. The Santa Rita Hills vineyard supplies TWG's Sanford Winery Pinot Noir and other wineries including Bonaccorsi, Au Bon Climat and Longoria, to which it will continue to supply fruit. Currently, 66 acres are planted to Pinot Noir; 51 acres to Chardonnay and smaller plots to Viognier and Pinot Gris. The vineyard is contiguous to Sanford Winery's 110-acre La Rinconada estate.

Sonoma groups team for weekend
The Sonoma County Vintners and Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers will inaugurate Sonoma Wine Country Weekend wine, food and auction on Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29-31. The event will combine the former Sonoma County Showcase of Wine & Food and the Sonoma Valley Harvest Wine Auction. For details, visit sonomawine.com.

Sullivan named Rudd winemaker
Rudd Winery, Oakville, appointed Patrick Sullivan to the position of winemaker. Previously, he was associate winemaker at Paul Hobbs Winery.

Merryvale has a new president
René Schlatter was promoted to president of Merryvale Vineyards, St. Helena. Previously, Schlatter was executive vice president.

Sonoma to offer vineyard walking tours
The Sonoma County Winegrape Commission and Sonoma County Vintners have teamed with Zephyr Wine Adventures to offer walking vacations of Sonoma County vineyards. Five-day tours will include meals, lodging and vineyard walks guided by winery staff. The first walking vacations are scheduled for Aug. 24-28 and Oct. 26-30. Three percent of the $1,900 fee will benefit the Sonoma Vineyard Workers Education program. For details, visit sonomavineyardwalks.com.

Crimson names new CEO
Crimson Wine Group, Ltd., Napa Valley, appointed Erle Martin CEO. Crimson includes Pine Ridge Winery, Stags Leap District; Archery Summit Winery, Dundee Hills, Ore.; and a new vineyard and future winery in Washington's Horse Heaven Hills. Previously, Martin was president/GM at Niebaum-Coppola.

Support scholarships, win a tractor
The California Winegrape Growers Foundation (CWGGF) is selling raffle tickets to benefit its college scholarship program for children of California vineyard employees. Grand price is a New Holland 25hp, four-wheel drive tractor, donated by Garton Tractor, Inc. Tickets are $20 each, or six for $100. Martin & Weyrich bolsters sales team
In recent months, Martin & Weyrich Winery, Paso Robles, and York Mountain Winery, Templeton, named Peter Price, previously with Peachy Canyon Winery, vice president, sales and marketing; and Maura Osborn, previously with Justin Vineyards & Winery, as marketing director. Nick Biehle was promoted from Central Coast regional sales representative to California sales manager; Bailey Blake is now Central Coast regional sales rep. Michael Urban, ex-Laetitia Winery, was hired as Eastern regional sales manager, and Haley Marketing Group, LLC, was appointed New England regional broker.

Joel Gott hires sales manager
Joel Gott Wines, St. Helena, appointed Chuck Spelman its national sales manager. Previously, Spelman was with Delicato Family Vineyards.
