Novembal closure replaces cork/capsule
Novembal, a Tetra Pak company based in San Francisco, introduced the new Novatwist wine bottle closure, which replaces traditional cork and capsule or screwcap. The Novatwist fits glass or PET bottles with standard a screwcap finish and can be recycled with them. It has a flexible, unbreakable seal and uses tin or Saranex liners. Mistral adds convection-toasted barrels

Chr. Hansen's frozen malolactic starter
Chr. Hansen, Danish producer of wine cultures, will introduce FroZen malolactic starter cultures for white wines including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris. More awards for Ben Franklin
Ben Franklin Press & Label Co., a family-owned wine label printer in Napa, Calif., received the Best of Show award for wine labels at the Showcase of Print Excellence hosted by the Printing Industries of Northern California. The award honored Trefethen Vineyards' Halo label. The printer also received gold awards for the Charles Krug 1861 wine label, and its own promotional piece celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Vaisala monitors now Ethernet enabled
Vaisala, Woburn, Mass., supplier of monitors, now offers select series of HUMICAP humidity and transmitters and DRYCAP dewpoint transmitters with Ethernet connectivity through wireless or wired networks. In the July issue, a letter from Eileen Harbertson in Feedback incorrectly associated her with the University of California, Davis. Although previously at UC Davis, Harbertson is now a research associate at Washington State University, Prosser.
