Concrete fermenters from Sonoma

A veteran producer of pre-cast concrete products, Sonoma Cast Stone is getting into the wine business with an egg-shaped, 500-gallon concrete tank. The interior is cast from the traditional, colorless concrete made with chlorine-free water; the outer shell is fiber-cast EarthCrete that is sustainable and extra strong. Tanks include a metal leg base, with optional pomace door, temperature-control tubing and steel transfer pallet. A 25% discount is offered on orders placed now for Aug. 1 delivery. WineWeb.com launched an online winery tour planning tool for winery appointment scheduling, with interactive maps and driving directions, available to all at wineweb.com. Two new iPhone apps also debuted. TastingRoom Finder was developed by World of Wine Events LLC, creator of the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival; the app is $4.99. Industry veterans found Vertical Glass
Neil Foster and David Hammond launched Vertical Glass & Packaging, Santa Rosa, Calif., to manufacture and distribute imported and domestic glass bottles for the North American wine industry. It ties its deliveries into winery bottling programs for improved efficiency, plus lowered risk and internal costs to clients. Hammond’s glass and packaging experience comes from Rexam Intl.; Ryco Packaging, Encore! Glass and Synergy. Foster is owner/president of M.A. Silva Corks.
