Turrentine taps Cuneo

Marc Cuneo has joined Turrentine Brokerage of Novato, Calif., as a broker. A fourth-generation member of the Sebastiani wine family, Cuneo has managed vineyards, crushed and fermented grapes and worked in sales for both Sebastiani Vineyards and a major distributor. At Turrentine Brokerage, he will help wineries manage inventories to sustain brand growth and maximize cash flow through planning and the strategic use of the bulk wine market. Amorim preserves 200-year-old wine
Portuguese cork producer Amorim helped preserve 168 bottles of 200-year-old Champagne recovered from a shipwreck at the bottom of the Baltic Sea off the coast of the Åland Archipelago. Amorim’s technical Champagne team advised on replacing the 200-year-old cork stoppers with new ones. The team developed a new stopper made from a single piece of natural cork to meet the specifications of the antique bottles. The company also provided manual bottling machines that allowed the recovery team to insert new corks at a location close to the shipwreck site. Details: corkfacts.com.

Vigneron launches XpressFill

Vigneron Specialty Products, San Luis Obispo, Calif., home of the XpressFill line of bottle filling machines, announced the launch of a new series named The Level Fill system. These one-, two- and four-bottle fillers are designed to fill each bottle to the exact level desired regardless of bottle variations. Options include gas sparging and speed flow rate variations. KLR becomes Bucher Vaslin

ASL Print FX earns awards

Precision Technology acquires Hypac
Precision Technology of Roanoke, Va., has acquired Australia-based Hypac Pty. Ltd., a manufacturer of basket presses for premium winemaking. Hypac has basket press customers in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Spain. Robb joins Strike & Techel

Caliber WinePak gets a new name
Caliber WinePak, a wine bottle distributor based in Benicia, Calif., has changed its name to TricorBraun WinePak, reflecting its ownership by TricorBraun, a North American distributor of glass and plastic packaging. TricorBraun acquired Caliber WinePak in 1997 but did not immediately change the company’s name. TricorBraun has more than 40 locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Asia. Ann Doherty joins Saxco Pacific Coast, Vancouver, Wash., as sales account manager for wine bottles. Ameridia appoints Rodriguez
Ameridia, a division of France’s Eurodia Industrie S.A., Somerset, N.J., appointed Domingo Rodriguez to promote its wine processing technologies across North America, including ENERGY STAR Flex Your Power award-winning tartrate stabilization technology. Key Technology of Walla Walla, Wash., introduces new crush pad equipment solutions for wineries. Modules can be utilized separately or configured as an integrated system including a receiving hopper, cluster sorting table, post-destemmer sorting table with MOG separating system and color sorters.

OMISSION
Orchard Valley Supply, a wholesale vineyard and orchard supply company based in Harrisburg, N.C., was inadvertently omitted from the November Wines & Vines Guide to Suppliers. Orchard Valley Supply now offers Rejex-it, a sensory repellent that makes treated grapes unpalatable to birds, including turkeys.
