Tricycle pedals to a new location

Founded in 2004, Tricycle Wine Co., producer of Molnar Family, Kazmer & Blaise and Obsidian Ridge wines, announced the acquisition of a 10,000-square-foot wine-production facility at the Eighth Street East wine facility in Sonoma, Calif. The company will crush its 2011 crop at this location. The facility, which has a capacity of more than 20,000 cases, allows Tricycle Wine Co. to consolidate its wine production efforts into one location. Visit: tricyclewineco.com.

St. Francis vintner Mackey announces retirement
After nearly 30 years at 250,000-case St. Francis Winery & Vineyards, Santa Rosa, Calif., winemaker Tom Mackey will retire from his position as winemaster and director of winemaking effective December 2011. Mackey, who became St. Francis’ first winemaker in 1983, will remain a consultant to the winery. Heather Munden will continue as artisan winemaker and associate winemaker, and Katie Madigan will become the Sonoma County winemaker upon retirement of current Sonoma County winemaker Dennis Borell at the end of 2011.  Visit: stfranciswine.com.

MacPhail joins The Hess Collection
Winemaker James MacPhail joined The Hess Collection, bringing
his 4,000-case MacPhail Family Wines of Healdsburg, Calif., while continuing as founding winemaker for Sequana Vineyards. The Hess Collection will acquire the MacPhail Family Wines brand, as well as existing inventory, and MacPhail will continue to be the hands-on winemaker for MacPhail Family Wines.
